Not Mine

Not Mine is TJ Howlett's debut single. It's a guitar driven blues rock anthem about growing up with a working family in a mining town. Images of home, school and the community are the backdrop for an engaging story that follows the storyteller as they make sense of the world. The music is energetic and uplifting, with a pumping rhythm, grungy riffs and a blistering guitar solo that counterbalances the simple vocal melody.

The song is immediately accessible. The lyrics immerse you in the singer's world using short and simple phrasing, and the chorus is a group vocal you can't help but sing along with. As the story progresses you can take up the invitation to consider the deeper themes it explores, including love, loss, power and control, or happily stay immersed in a simple but well told coming of age story.
